On holiday in Suriname? Anaula Nature Resort is the right place for an unforgettable, adventurous nature and culture experience. The resort is located in the Upper Surinam area on an island in the Ferulasi rapids. It features luxurious cabanas with a child-friendly swimming pool.
Day 1:
We start our day with a nature and culture experience, we depart from Paramaribo heading south.
Passing the impressive giant trees and villages situated along this road.
After 190 km we arrive at Atjoni the mooring place of the dug out boats, here we start our exciting canoe trip. This trip by motorised canoe will take about 55 min to reach our destination, the comfortabe Anaula Nature Resort, which is situated at the foot of the Ferulassi rapids. During this trip you can enjoy the breathtaking nature, the turbulent Jaw-Jaw rapid and we will pass several Maroon villages. When we reach Anaula Resort you will be carried away by its peace. This will be your home away from home during your stay.
After a light lunch in buffet style in our beautiful restaurant, you can check in.
After this you have the opportunity to discover the island.
In the afternoon we will go by boat to the Ferulassi rapids, where you can relax, swin or enjoy a natural whirlpool. After dinner our guide will explain a little about the Saramaccan culture.
After this we will go for an exciting adventure, spotting caimans.
During this night trip by boat, you can enjoy the breathtaking starry sky and the Total silence of the Amazone rainforest.
Day 2:
After breakfast we`ll be heading to New Aurora by motorised dug out boats for a village walk. During the tour of the village you will discover the local population and their unique way of life and their traditional customs and habits. We will visit the mission with a church, a school and a medical post.
Around 16.30 pm we go for a bush walk around the island which the resort is located.
During this walk we get information about the local medicinal and use of the plants. During the civil war in 1986 the Jungle Commandos with their leader Ronnie Brunswijk, visited the island for their “immortality rituals”. The remains of these rituals remind us of the island unique piece of history.
After an delicous dinner you can enjoy a cultural dance performance.
Traditional dances like the Seketi, Awasa and Bandamba will be presented.
Our guide will be explaining the content and meaning of these dances.
Note: the cultural dance event is being offered at a minimum of 8 (eight) guests.
Day 3
This morning is free for your own activities. You can swim, take a walk through the forest, relax by the pool or in a hammock, or just relax and enjoy the breathtaking nature.
You can also choose to participate in excursions such as visits to the plots of the local residents. After lunch we return to Atjoni, from where we depart by bus to Paramaribo

Dag 1:
We beginnen onze dag met een natuur- en cultuurervaring, we vertrekken vanuit Paramaribo naar het zuiden. We passeren de indrukwekkende reusachtige bomen en dorpen langs deze weg. Na 190 km komen we aan bij Atjoni, de aanlegplaats van de uitgegraven boten, hier beginnen we aan onze spannende kanotocht. Deze reis per gemotoriseerde kano duurt ongeveer 55 minuten om onze bestemming te bereiken, het comfortabele Anaula Nature Resort, gelegen aan de voet van de Ferulassi-stroomversnellingen. Tijdens deze reis kun je genieten van de adembenemende natuur, de turbulente Jaw-Jaw-snelheid en we passeren verschillende kastanjebruine dorpen. Wanneer we Anaula Resort bereiken, wordt u meegesleept door de rust. Dit zal uw thuis weg van huis zijn tijdens uw verblijf. Na een lichte lunch in buffetstijl in ons prachtige restaurant, kunt u inchecken. Hierna heb je de mogelijkheid om het eiland te ontdekken. ‘S Middags gaan we per boot naar de Ferulassi-stroomversnellingen, waar u kunt ontspannen, zwemmen of genieten van een natuurlijke draaikolk. Na het diner zal onze gids een beetje uitleg geven over de Saramaccaanse cultuur. Hierna gaan we voor een spannend avontuur en zien we de kaaimannen. Tijdens deze nachtelijke reis per boot kunt u genieten van de adembenemende sterrenhemel en de totale stilte van het Amazone-regenwoud.
Dag 2:
Na het ontbijt gaan we richting New Aurora met gemotoriseerde uitgegraven boten voor een dorpswandeling. Tijdens de rondleiding door het dorp ontdekt u de lokale bevolking en hun unieke manier van leven en hun traditionele gebruiken. We zullen de missie bezoeken met een kerk, een school en een medische post. Rond 16.30 uur gaan we een boswandeling maken rond het eiland waar het resort zich bevindt. Tijdens deze wandeling krijgen we informatie over de lokale medicinale werking en het gebruik van de planten. Tijdens de burgeroorlog in 1986 bezochten de Jungle Commando’s met hun leider Ronnie Brunswijk het eiland voor hun “onsterfelijkheidsrituelen”. De overblijfselen van deze rituelen herinneren ons aan het unieke stukje geschiedenis van het eiland. Na een delicieus diner kunt u genieten van een culturele dansvoorstelling. Traditionele dansen zoals de Seketi, Awasa en Bandamba zullen worden gepresenteerd. Onze gids legt de inhoud en betekenis van deze dansen uit. Opmerking: het culturele dance-evenement wordt aangeboden bij minimaal 8 (acht) gasten.
Dag 3:
Vandaag is er tijd voor je eigen activiteiten. Je kunt zwemmen, een wandeling maken door het bos, ontspannen bij het zwembad of in een hangmat, of gewoon ontspannen en genieten van de adembenemende natuur. U kunt er ook voor kiezen om deel te nemen aan excursies zoals bezoeken aan de percelen van de lokale bewoners. Na de lunch keren we terug naar Atjoni, vanwaar we per bus vertrekken naar Paramaribo
